Graphics Card Buying Guide Bangladesh: How Much PSU Do You Need?

Graphics Card Buying Guide Bangladesh: How Much PSU Do You Need?

By Mega Buy Bd | Category - Desktop PC & Components

Summary: Graphics card buying guide Bangladesh: GPU tiers, VRAM, current RTX 3050 and RTX 5060 prices, and how much PSU wattage you really need. Avoid costly mistakes.

This graphics card buying guide Bangladesh PC builders can follow explains which card fits your games and budget, and exactly how much power supply (PSU) you need to run it safely. The short answer: you only need a graphics card for gaming, 3D, video editing or AI work. For 1080p gaming, an RTX 5060-class card with 8GB VRAM is the current sweet spot, paired with a quality 550W to 650W 80 Plus Bronze PSU. For 1440p and newer AAA games, look for 12GB to 16GB VRAM and plan for 650W to 750W.

Do You Even Need a Graphics Card?

Many buyers spend money on a card they never use. Check your real use first.

  • No card needed: office work, browsing, online classes, accounting software, YouTube, Netflix. Any processor with built-in graphics (Intel non-F chips, AMD G-series or most Ryzen 7000/9000) handles this.
  • Light card or strong APU: older esports games at low settings, multi-monitor offices.
  • Dedicated card needed: modern games, Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve exports, Blender, local AI tools.

Remember that Intel processors with "F" in the name, such as the i5-12400F, have no graphics at all and need a card just to show the Windows desktop.

Graphics card prices in Bangladesh right now

In stock listings we checked at two major Bangladeshi computer retailers on 27 October 2026:

  • RTX 3050 6GB: about 35,200 to 42,900 taka.
  • RTX 5060 8GB: about 53,400 to 66,000 taka.
  • RTX 5060 Ti 8GB: about 63,600 to 85,500 taka.
  • RTX 5060 Ti 16GB: about 112,900 to 121,000 taka.

Prices depend heavily on brand and cooler design, and they change often. Notice how much more the 16GB version of the same chip costs; that gap is mostly memory, which is expensive at present.

How Much VRAM Do You Need?

VRAM is the graphics card's own memory. When a game needs more than the card has, you get stutter and blurry textures, even if the chip is fast.

  • 4GB: older and esports games only.
  • 6GB to 8GB: 1080p gaming. Some new AAA titles need lower texture settings on 8GB.
  • 12GB to 16GB: 1440p, ultra textures, video editing and local AI models.

Between two similar cards, the one with more VRAM usually ages better.

Graphics Card Buying Guide Bangladesh: How Much PSU Do You Need?

The PSU feeds every part of your PC. A weak or poor-quality unit causes crashes, random restarts during games and, in the worst case, damaged parts.

A simple sizing method

  1. Find the card's power figure (NVIDIA calls it Total Graphics Power).
  2. Add the processor's maximum power.
  3. Add about 75W to 100W for motherboard, RAM, SSDs and fans.
  4. Multiply by about 1.4 to leave headroom for power spikes and future upgrades.

Example: RTX 5060 (145W) + Core i5-14400F (up to about 148W in turbo) + 80W for the rest is roughly 375W at full load. Times 1.4 gives about 525W. NVIDIA lists 550W as the required system power for the RTX 5060, so a quality 550W unit works, and a 650W unit gives comfortable headroom.

These are reference-design figures from NVIDIA's official specification pages. Factory-overclocked cards from partner brands can draw more and may use different connectors, so always check the exact model's page.

80 Plus ratings in plain words

80 Plus measures efficiency, meaning how much power from the wall reaches your parts instead of becoming heat. Bronze units are around 85% efficient at half load, Gold around 90%. Bronze is fine for most home builds; Gold runs a little cooler and quieter. In late October 2026, 650W 80 Plus Bronze units from known brands were listed at about 4,500 to 6,700 taka at the two retailers we checked.

Check the connectors

  • Count the PCIe 8-pin (6+2) cables your card needs. Avoid using one split cable for two sockets on power-hungry cards.
  • Higher-end cards may use the 12V-2x6 (formerly 12VHPWR) connector. Push it in fully until it clicks, and do not bend the cable sharply near the plug.
  • Never use cheap Molex-to-PCIe adapters.

How to Choose a Graphics Card

  • Match the monitor: 1080p 144Hz to 180Hz pairs with RTX 5060-class cards; 1440p needs more.
  • Match the processor: a very old quad-core will hold back a new card. Intel 12th gen or Ryzen 5000 and newer are good partners.
  • Check case fit: compare card length and thickness with the case's GPU clearance in millimetres.
  • Intel Arc owners: Arc cards need Resizable BAR enabled in BIOS for good performance, so avoid them on older systems without it.
  • Warranty and seller: buy from an authorised seller with a clear warranty. Be careful with used mining-era cards.

Pair Your Card with the Right Monitor

A fast card on a 60Hz screen wastes most of its frames. Here are monitors we sell that match each tier. Prices are at the time of writing; the product page shows the latest price.

Load Shedding: Protect Your Card

A gaming PC should run through a PC UPS sized for its full load, usually 1000VA to 1500VA for an RTX 5060 or 5070 system with a monitor, so it can shut down safely in a power cut. Keep the internet alive too with a mini DC UPS for your router; our mini UPS range starts from under 1,500 Tk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a 450W PSU enough for an RTX 5060?

NVIDIA lists 550W as the required system power for the RTX 5060. A high-quality 450W unit might run a light system, but power spikes during gaming can trigger shutdowns, and there is no room to upgrade. A branded 550W to 650W 80 Plus Bronze PSU is the safer and only slightly more expensive choice.

Should I buy an 8GB or 16GB RTX 5060 Ti?

For 1080p esports and most games at high settings, the 8GB version is fine and much cheaper in Bangladesh right now. If you play new AAA games at 1440p with ultra textures, edit 4K video or run local AI models, the 16GB version avoids running out of memory and will last longer.

Does PSU brand really matter?

Yes. A cheap unbranded PSU may not deliver its label wattage, can have weak protection circuits and can take your motherboard or graphics card with it when it fails. Choose a known brand with an 80 Plus rating, a proper warranty and the connectors your card needs.

Can I use a gaming graphics card for video editing?

Yes. GeForce cards work well in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and CapCut, with hardware encoding for faster exports. For editing, VRAM matters more than for gaming, so a 12GB or 16GB card is a better choice than an 8GB card of similar speed if you work with 4K footage.
