About the Proton Omnia ACM1224

Two Wi-Fi Bands in One Router

The router broadcasts on 2.4GHz and 5GHz at the same time. The 2.4GHz band reaches further through walls, while 5GHz gives higher speed in nearby rooms. You can connect older devices to 2.4GHz and new phones to 5GHz.

Gigabit Wired Connections

All four Ethernet ports run at 10/100/1000Mbps with Auto MDI/MDIX. This matters when your ISP gives more than 100Mbps, because a 100Mbps WAN port would cap the speed. Desktop PCs and TV boxes can use the three LAN ports.

Realtek Hardware Inside

Proton lists a Realtek RTL8197FH-VG4 main chip with an RTL8812FR 5GHz radio. The router also has 64MB DDR2 RAM and 16MB flash storage. See more models in our router collection to compare.

Design & Performance

Design and Build

Product photos show a black body with an angular front and textured side panels. Four tall antennas stand at the back corners and sides. A row of green LED lights sits along the front edge.

The LEDs show Power, Internet, 2.4G, 5G, LAN and WPS status. This helps you see at a glance whether the internet line is working. The router runs from a DC 12V 1A adapter.

Performance in Daily Use

On 5GHz, the router supports up to 867Mbps with 20, 40 and 80MHz channel widths. Real speed is always lower than the rated figure and depends on walls, distance and your devices. Phones close to the router on 5GHz will see the best results.

Setup happens through a web page with an easy setup wizard. You can choose Router or Repeater mode, depending on your need. Firmware can be upgraded from the web page, and settings can be backed up to a file.

Who It's For

Families on Fibre Broadband

Many homes now get 50Mbps to 100Mbps or more through fibre lines. A dual band router with Gigabit ports helps you use that speed fully. Streaming, video calls and downloads can run together more smoothly.

Small Offices and Shops

Small offices can connect desktops by cable and phones by Wi-Fi. MAC filtering and an access control list help limit who uses the network. Traffic statistics show which connected devices use the most data each day.

Homes With Power Cuts

Load shedding cuts the internet even when the ISP line is fine. A router needs a 12V supply, so a mini DC UPS can keep it running. See the WGP mini UPS for router as one backup option.

Simple Buying Guide

Match the Router to Your Plan

If your internet plan is above 100Mbps, choose a router with Gigabit ports. A slower port wastes part of the speed you pay for. This model meets that need.

Think About Coverage

One router covers a typical flat, but thick concrete walls reduce the signal. Place it in a central spot, a little above floor level. Repeater mode can help extend Wi-Fi with a second unit.

Compare Before You Buy

Check speed, ports and antennas side by side with similar AC1200 routers. For example, compare it with the Tenda AC5 AC1200 router on our site. Look at the port speed difference carefully.

Easy Steps to Check Before You Order

First, confirm your connection type and login details with your internet provider. Keep the PPPoE username and password ready if needed.

Next, check whether your plan is faster than 100Mbps, so the Gigabit ports are useful. Your ISP bill usually shows the speed.

Then, find a power socket near the spot where you will place the router. A central location gives better coverage.

Last, check that your phones and laptops support 5GHz Wi-Fi for the best speed. Older devices will still connect on 2.4GHz.

What's in the Box

The exact box contents are not confirmed by our sources. Proton lists a DC 12V 1A power supply for this router. Please ask our team which cables are included.

When the parcel arrives, check the body and antennas for damage. Power it on and watch the LED lights. Keep the box until setup is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Proton Omnia ACM1224 price in Bangladesh?

The current price appears at the top of this page. Prices may change with stock and supplier costs. Please check the page or contact our team before ordering. We will confirm the latest price and delivery charge for your area.

Does this router support WPA3 security?

Yes, Proton lists WPA3-AES and mixed WPA2-PSK/WPA3-AES modes. Older WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK modes are also available for older devices. Use WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode if some devices cannot join with WPA3 only. Always change the default Wi-Fi password during the first setup.

Can I use it as a Wi-Fi repeater?

Yes, Repeater is one of its two wireless modes, along with Router mode. In repeater mode it picks up an existing Wi-Fi signal and spreads it further. Place it where the main signal is still strong for good results. A spot halfway between the main router and the weak room works best.
