How to Enable and Disable Call Forwarding on Android and iPhone in Bangladesh

How to Enable and Disable Call Forwarding on Android and iPhone in Bangladesh

By Mega Buy Bd | Category - Tech Trends

Summary: Enable call forwarding in Bangladesh with **21*number# or phone settings, and turn it off with ##21# or ##002#. Android, Samsung and iPhone steps for every SIM.

Need your calls to reach another number while your main phone is off, out of charge or out of network? This guide explains how to enable call forwarding in Bangladesh on Android and iPhone, and how to switch it off again, for users of Grameenphone, Robi, Airtel, Banglalink and Teletalk SIMs. The short answer: open your phone app's settings and find Call forwarding, or dial the standard GSM code **21*number# to forward every call. Dial ##21# to cancel it, or ##002# to cancel all forwarding at once.

What Call Forwarding Does and When It Helps

Call forwarding (also called call divert) tells the mobile network to send incoming calls on your SIM to another number. The network does the work, so the forwarding stays active even if your phone is switched off.

Common reasons people in Bangladesh use it:

  • Two SIMs, one phone: forward a second business number to the phone you always carry.
  • Power cuts and dead batteries: forward calls to a family member's phone when your phone may run out of charge.
  • Weak network at home: forward to a SIM from an operator with better coverage in your area.
  • Travel: forward a local number to a colleague while you are away.
  • Shop or office line: forward the shop's number to the owner's personal phone after closing time.

Four Types of Call Forwarding

TypeWhen calls are forwardedTurn onTurn offCheck status
Always (unconditional)Every call, phone never rings**21*number###21#*#21#
When busyYou are on another call or reject the call**67*number###67#*#67#
When unansweredYou do not pick up in time**61*number###61#*#61#
When unreachablePhone off, no network or flight mode**62*number###62#*#62#
All conditional (busy + unanswered + unreachable)Any of the three conditions**004*number###004#–
Cancel everything––##002#–

These are the international GSM supplementary service codes that most mobile networks support. We could not find operator-specific call divert codes or charges published on Bangladeshi operators' official websites, so check your operator's app or helpline if a code returns an error.

How to Enable Call Forwarding in Bangladesh with Dial Codes

Dial codes work on almost any phone, including button phones, and are the fastest method.

  1. Open the Phone or dialler app, the same place you type a number.
  2. Type the code with the number you want calls sent to. Use the full number with country code to avoid errors, for example **21*+8801XXXXXXXXX#.
  3. Press the call button. On a dual-SIM phone, choose the SIM whose calls you want to forward.
  4. Wait for the network message, such as "Call forwarding activated" or "Registration was successful".
  5. Test by asking someone to call your number.

Change the ring time before forwarding

For "when unanswered" forwarding, many networks accept a ring time in seconds: **61*number**20# forwards after about 20 seconds. Values from 5 to 30 in steps of 5 are standard. If the network rejects it, use the code without the time.

How to disable call forwarding with codes

  • ##21# removes "always" forwarding.
  • ##002# removes every type of forwarding at once. This is the code to remember if calls stop ringing and you do not know why.
  • *#21# shows whether "always" forwarding is on and to which number.

How to Enable Call Forwarding on Android

Menu names differ slightly by brand and Android version, but the setting lives in the Phone app.

Google Phone app (Pixel, Motorola, Nokia, many Xiaomi and Realme models)

  1. Open Phone and tap the three dots > Settings.
  2. Tap Calling accounts or Calls, then choose your SIM.
  3. Tap Call forwarding (sometimes under Supplementary services or Additional settings) and choose Voice if asked.
  4. Choose Always forward, When busy, When unanswered or When unreachable, type the number and tap Enable or Turn on.

Samsung Galaxy phones

  1. Open Phone, tap the three dots > Settings.
  2. Tap Supplementary services > Call forwarding.
  3. Choose Voice call, then the SIM if you have two.
  4. Pick a forwarding type, enter the number and tap Enable.

To turn it off on Android

Go back to the same Call forwarding screen, tap the active option and choose Disable or Turn off. The phone asks the network to remove it, which can take a few seconds.

How to Enable Call Forwarding on iPhone

  1. Open Settings, then Phone (on recent iOS versions: Settings > Apps > Phone).
  2. Tap Call Forwarding. On a dual-SIM iPhone, first choose the line.
  3. Turn on Call Forwarding and tap Forward To to enter the number.
  4. To turn it off, return to the same screen and switch Call Forwarding off.

The iPhone settings screen only offers "always" forwarding. For "when busy", "when unanswered" or "when unreachable", use the dial codes from the table above in the iPhone Phone app. They work the same way.

Charges and Things to Know

  • Forwarded calls may cost you. On most networks the forwarded leg is billed to your account like an outgoing call. Rates depend on your operator and package, so check before you forward for long periods.
  • Keep balance on the SIM. If forwarding is charged and your balance runs out, forwarding may fail.
  • Some packages or SIM types block forwarding. Contact your operator if every code returns "Request not supported" or "Connection problem".
  • Do not dial codes sent by strangers. Fraudsters sometimes ask people to dial a forwarding code so they can receive your calls and OTPs. Never dial a code beginning with ** or * that someone else gives you over the phone.
  • VoLTE phones: if a code fails, use the phone's settings menu instead, which works with the network's current setup.

Troubleshooting Call Forwarding

"Network or SIM card error" message

Check the number format (use +880), make sure you selected the correct SIM, and try again with mobile signal at full strength. Restarting the phone helps if the setting screen keeps loading.

My phone stopped ringing

Dial *#21# to see if "always" forwarding is on. If you are unsure what was set, dial ##002# to clear everything.

Calls go to voicemail or a message instead

Another forwarding rule may be active. Clear all with ##002#, then set only the type you need.

How to Choose a Second Phone for Forwarding

Many people forward calls to a simple backup phone that lasts days on one charge. Look for:

  • Long battery life: a button phone often lasts several days, ideal during load-shedding.
  • Dual SIM: keep two operators in one backup phone.
  • 4G support if you also want WhatsApp or hotspot on the backup phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the call forwarding code for Grameenphone, Robi or Banglalink?

All Bangladeshi operators use GSM networks, so the standard codes generally apply: **21*number# for always, **67* for busy, **61* for unanswered and **62* for unreachable. Cancel with ##21# or ##002#. If your operator returns an error, use the phone's Call forwarding menu or contact the operator's helpline to confirm the service is active.

How do I check if call forwarding is on?

Dial *#21# and press call. The network replies with the forwarding status and the number calls go to. You can also check *#67#, *#61# and *#62# for the conditional types. In phone settings, the Call forwarding screen shows each type as on or off with the number underneath.

Does call forwarding work when my phone is switched off?

Yes, if you set "always" or "when unreachable" forwarding before switching off. The rule is stored on the operator's network, not on your phone, so calls are diverted even when the phone is off or out of coverage. "When busy" and "when unanswered" only apply while the phone is on.

Is call forwarding free in Bangladesh?

Activating it is usually free, but the forwarded call itself is commonly billed to your number like an outgoing call, at your package rate. Charges vary by operator and plan and can change, so check your operator's app or helpline before forwarding calls for a long period.
