About the D-Link DES-F1006P-E 6 Port Unmanaged PoE Switch

What PoE Means for You

PoE stands for Power over Ethernet. One cable carries both network data and electricity to the device. You do not need a separate power socket beside every camera on the wall.

Four PoE Ports and Two Uplinks

Ports 1 to 4 supply PoE power at 10/100 Mbps. Ports 5 and 6 are uplink ports for your NVR, router or another switch. This layout is ideal for a small four camera security setup.

Standards and Switching

The switch supports IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at PoE, plus 802.3x flow control and NWay auto-negotiation. Switching capacity is 1.2 Gbps, with a 148,800 pps forwarding rate on 100M ports. Auto MDI/MDIX on every port means any standard straight network cable works.

Design & Performance

Design and Build

The DES-F1006P-E has a compact black desktop body that measures 125 x 75 x 27mm. It weighs about 0.75 kg, so it fits easily in a small CCTV rack or cabinet. The design is fanless, so it runs without fan noise.

LED lights show power, link activity and PoE status for each port. A small DIP switch on the front lets you pick working modes, such as extend mode. This helps you check the system at a glance during installation.

Performance in Daily Use

In normal mode, cable runs follow the usual 100 metre Ethernet limit. Extend mode can push the reach up to 250 metres for distant cameras. This is useful for gates, parking areas and the back of a large building.

The 60W budget is shared by all four PoE ports together. Most simple IP cameras need much less, but PTZ cameras with heaters may need more. Always check the power rating of each camera before you connect it.

Who It's For

Small CCTV Installations

A shop or home with up to four IP cameras is the perfect match. The switch powers each camera and links it to the recorder (NVR). You only run one cable to each camera position, which saves both time and wiring cost.

Wi-Fi Access Point Setups

PoE access points can also run from this switch. You can mount them on ceilings without a nearby socket. This helps cover large rooms, halls and multi-floor homes with stronger, steadier Wi-Fi.

Installers and Technicians

CCTV installers need a reliable small switch for quick jobs. The plug and play design means no extra setup time on site. Its compact body fits into most small wall racks, junction boxes and cabinets.

Simple Buying Guide

Check PoE Compatibility

Make sure every camera or access point supports 802.3af or 802.3at PoE. Non-PoE devices still work on the ports, but they need their own adapter. Check the device manual or label before you plan.

Calculate the Power Budget

Add the maximum wattage of all connected PoE devices. Keep the total safely below the 60W budget, with some room spare. This keeps the switch cool and stable during long hours.

Protect Against Power Cuts

Cameras stop recording when the switch loses power. A backup unit keeps the switch, NVR and router running during load shedding. Our mini UPS buying guide explains how to pick a suitable backup.

Easy Steps to Check Before You Order

First, confirm that all your cameras or access points support PoE, and count how many you need. Four is the maximum for this switch.

Next, add up the power each device needs and make sure the total stays under 60W.

Then, measure each cable run, and use extend mode only for cameras far beyond 100 metres. Good quality cable from our cables section also helps.

Last, ask our team about the power adapter, since the warranty does not cover it and it may be sold separately.

What's in the Box

Our source lists one switch unit and one user manual in the package. The power adapter is noted as sold separately. Please confirm this with our team.

When the parcel arrives, check the switch body and all six ports for damage. Make sure the manual is inside the box. Contact us quickly if anything is missing.

Warranty

This D-Link PoE switch has a 1 year warranty, without the adapter, as stated by our source. Keep your invoice and box for any claim. Our team can guide you through the warranty process.
