A Lighter, Newer EliteBook

The 840 G7 is lighter than the G5 and G6, at about 1.33 kg. It measures around 323.6 x 214.7 x 17.9 mm. That small change makes a real difference when you carry it every day.

The Entry Setup of the 840 G7

This unit has 8GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM and a 256GB NVMe M.2 SSD. It is the lower-cost setup of the 840 G7. If you need more memory and storage, look at the 16GB and 512GB version.

10th Gen Intel Core i5

The Core i5-10210U runs from 1.60 GHz and can boost to 4.20 GHz. It has 6MB cache for quick access to frequent data. In daily use, it handles office work and multitasking well.

Design & Performance

Design and Build

The 840 G7 has a silver finish and a slim, modern look. The 14-inch Full HD IPS screen is anti-glare and rated at 250 nits. Anti-glare helps reduce reflections from office lights, bright windows and outdoor light near a balcony.

For video calls there is a 720p HD camera with an IR camera. Audio is by Bang & Olufsen with dual stereo speakers and three array microphones. The clickpad supports multi-touch gestures for scrolling and zooming.

Performance in Daily Use

With Intel UHD Graphics, the laptop handles office apps, browsing, video calls and streaming smoothly. The NVMe SSD keeps start-up and file opening fast. It is not built for heavy gaming, 3D design or long video rendering jobs.

Ports include two USB-C with Thunderbolt support, two USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 and one HDMI 1.4. There is also a headphone and microphone combo jack. The battery is a 3-cell, 53Wh Li-ion pack.

Who It's For

Users Who Want Modern Ports

Thunderbolt USB-C lets you connect fast docks, displays and drives that support it. HDMI makes it easy to connect a projector in meetings. Two USB-A ports still work with older flash drives and mice.

Students and Young Professionals

Students and new job holders need a light laptop that is fast enough for daily work. The 8GB and 256GB setup keeps the price lower. If you want more memory, compare the HP EliteBook 840 G7 i5 16GB 512GB on our site.

Home Offices With Fast Internet

Wi-Fi 6 works best with a Wi-Fi 6 router, which many new home connections now use. It helps when several family members share the same network. Older routers still work, at their normal speeds.
